Skipjak was built in Kungor, Sweden at Kungors Batvarv AB / Schelin (Boat Yard) http://www.kbvarv.se in 1964. Mr. Richard Latham built two Udells, Windjak U-1 and Skipjak U-7 for Chicago, Ill.
Skipjak was ht last wooden Udell built. She was used as a plug to make molds to build the four fiberglass Udell’s that followed her in 1970.
